The first step to your union contract

I hope you had the time last week to read our letter to you about union negotiations. If you didn't see it, you can read it here

I'm writing to you today to let you know that we will soon be opening workplace elections for your bargaining committee.

As I wrote last week, the bargaining committee is the group of your co-workers who, with me and other professional union negotiators, will sit down to discuss (or "bargain") your first collective agreement with Amazon.

In a unionized workplace, employees' terms and conditions (ex. wages, benefits, workplace standards) are set out in a collective agreement. They are negotiated and agreed to by the employer and the union during collective bargaining.

Your bargaining committee is elected by you, the workers at Amazon YVR2. They are your direct line of communication to what is happening at the union meetings with Amazon (aka the "bargaining table").

Once the bargaining committee is elected, we can begin taking your suggestions for what should change in your workplace: from wages to health and safety, you can help shape positive change with a union contract.

If being on the bargaining committee is something that you're interested in, let us know at [email protected]

If you haven't already, add us to your email contacts so you don't miss a single update.

Thank you and I look forward to meeting you all soon!

In solidarity,

Mario Santos
Unifor National Representative

P.S. – Thanks to all the YVR2 workers that came out for our Labour Day celebration at the PNE. It was nice to get to meet with you and hear your ideas for contract bargaining.
