Welcome to Your Union – Important Information for Amazon YVR2 Unifor Members

As you may already know, unions have a long and established history in Canada. Approximately 1 out of every 3 working Canadians are members of a union. In virtually every sector of the economy, workers in a union earn higher wages, enjoy better health and dental benefits, and have a strong voice for their rights in the workplace.
Now that you are a member of a union, you have a right to be involved in the discussions about negotiating your first union collective agreement with Amazon. That’s exactly what these emails will be about in the coming weeks and months, so be sure to add us to your contacts.
To ensure the unique interests of Amazon workers are front-and-centre of your collective agreement, you will soon be nominating and electing a committee of your co-workers to work with professional negotiators at Unifor. This “Bargaining Committee” will eventually meet with Amazon representatives to discuss (negotiate) the details of the collective agreement.

This is a very exciting time to be a worker at YVR2. Simply by being a member of Unifor, you already have increased legal protections against arbitrary termination. British Columbia has strong laws protecting union workers against intimidation from employers, and that includes Amazon.
