Another Win for YVR2 Workers: Arbitration Moves Forward

We have another important update in the fight for your first collective agreement at YVR2.
In our last update, we told you that the B.C. Labour Relations Board ordered first contract arbitration and an independent arbitrator was appointed.
Amazon tried to stop that process.
Amazon asked the Labour Relations Board to put arbitration on hold while it continues with other legal challenges.
The Board said no.
On August 31, the Board dismissed Amazon’s application to stop the arbitration process.
Amazon has since sent workers another “Union Facts” communication suggesting the Board is preventing workers from having their voices heard.
Here are the facts:
Amazon asked the Board to stop arbitration.
The Board rejected Amazon’s request.
Arbitration is moving forward.
Sessions begin September 4, with additional dates scheduled for October 14–16. Important outstanding issues, including wages and scheduling, will be put before the arbitrator.
We know this has been a long process. But YVR2 workers have waited long enough for a first collective agreement.
Every time Amazon has tried to delay the process, we have kept moving forward.
This latest decision is another win for YVR2 workers.
