Dear Unifor members at YVR2,

We hope this message finds you well. We’re writing to give you a brief update about the worldwide effort to raise awareness about Amazon’s track record of unfair labour practices. From New Delhi, Indonesia, Taiwan, Brazil, Bangladesh to Montreal and beyond, thousands will take to the streets, picket lines, warehouses, offices, and data centers to Make Amazon Pay for labour abuses, environmental degradation and threats to democracy.

UNI Global Union is a global alliance of workers and organizations from more than 150 countries around the world. Their goal is to shift more power from multinational corporations to us, the workers that make profits possible.

Check out the global days of action during Amazon Prime Days. In Canada, unions organized in several cities. Here in Metro Vancouver, Unifor used the #MakeAmazonPay event to talk to workers at Amazon YVR4 and sign union cards to expand workers’ power in the region.

As you know, union contract negotiations are underway at YVR2. We have more meetings scheduled with the company in early December, so we will provide an update later this month.

In solidarity,
Mario Santos
Unifor National Representative
Area Director BC, Directeur local C.-B.
