Why is Amazon working so hard to get rid of the union before you can negotiate a contract?

Because once workers negotiate a collective agreement, they have a stronger voice. A collective agreement sets the rules for wages, benefits, job security, and working conditions. It gives workers the power to negotiate as equals with the employer. If the union is removed before bargaining is finished, you lose the opportunity to negotiate those improvements.

What has Unifor done?
When we fight, we win. Since certification, Unifor has challenged Amazon through the legal process and won important decisions, including back pay that workers deserved. We also fought for the right to meet with workers inside the workplace. When Amazon breaks the rules, we take action.

Why isn't the union in the workplace every day?
The rights for union representatives to regularly meet with members inside the workplace are normally negotiated in the first collective agreement. Until that agreement is reached, there are limits on what we can do inside the workplace. Even so, we continue to represent workers, answer questions, protect your rights, and hold Amazon accountable.
